Scott King

Game Designer and Programmer

Hello! My name is Scott, and I started Mango Drop Games in May 2009.

My love of video games started years ago with the Mario series. However, I wasn't allowed to have a Nintendo when I was a kid. My parents would only let me rent one on special occasions. What was a 10-year-old to do? Well, my dad bought a computer that had QBasic, a programming language, on it... one of those 66 megahertz machines that are beyond ancient now, but were top of the line back then. That's when I decided if I couldn't play video games made by other people, I'd just learn to make them myself!

I spent much of my free time reading help files and books about programming, creating small text-based games. Soon I learned how to do simple graphics (can you say "stick figure RPG"?) and eventually moved on to making better games with more advanced programming languages.

So why Mango Drop? I had been working a corporate job after college. It was great at first, until the company moved my job thousands of miles away. Well, I wasn't on board with THAT plan, so I decided to pursue my game-making passion!

My goal is for Mango Drop Games to be a special place where the games are uniquely fun, and people are treated with respect. If you want to find the 1000th Tetris clone or some faceless mega-corp, look elsewhere. We'll be too busy dreaming up and building the next awesome entertainment experience. As head of the organization, I can say we'd be honored to have you along on our gaming journey!

April Wong

Visual Director

Hey,

My name is April Wong, and I'm the Visual Director for Mango Drop Games. I have been working in the video game industry ever since I was fifteen years old. The journey began when I casually picked up a video game in 1992, Warcraft: Tide of Darkness. In awe with the level of detail in the art, I became a fan of videogames and art. I admired artists that could draw well, so one day, I decided to pick up a 2b Graphite pencil. Realizing that there are actually more types of pencils than a 2b, I delved into other media. In one week, I spent more than $600 in different types of markers, pencils, papers, and pens. I finally decided to try a new medium : Digital.

Digital opened up doors for me because by the age of 13, I started selling artwork at anime conventions. I started developing a lot of skills, and got contracted for many jobs in the art field. Somewhere through my journey of experiences, I met Scott, who not only is a humble being, but also very driven individual. He asked me to assist him with this project, and I have to say, I am so amazed at what we can produce at such a limited time. So! I hope we can continue to produce video games and give back to the fans of gaming.
